Life is messy. Talking about it helps. Circumstances in life can cause us to lose sight of ourselves and who we are called to be. Depression and anxiety can creep in or hit us all at once. Trauma can leave lasting wounds. Grief happens and there is no timeline for healing. Relationships can become complicated and confusing. Together we can figure out why you can’t escape from negative thought patterns, where your lack of self-confidence comes from, what’s at the root of your anxious feelings and worry, find freedom from the need to be perfect, process trauma from past experiences, find relief from depression, and more. Individual counseling can help you gain more understanding of yourself and your circumstances and can help you reclaim your identity in Christ.
Marital Counseling focuses on strengthening and repairing the marriage in line with Catholic/Christian teachings and research-based treatment modalities. All marriages experience difficult situations that affect the marriage relationship. Marriage counseling works to identify family of origin issues, past hurts, and external factors that affect the relationship, as well as build skills that will repair and strengthen the relationship between spouses.
Premarital preparation focuses on helping couples identify issues, habits, or topics that affect their relationship. These are identified with premarital inventories i.e., FOCCUS, Fully Alive, or Prepare and Enrich. The counselor reviews the results with the couple and provides recommendations and a treatment plan tailored to the couple. Premarital preparation helps couples be preventative to the stressors of life, empowering them before they are married.
Families are like the gears in a watch. Everyone functions differently. Family counseling focuses on addressing behaviors and patterns so the family relationship can be strengthened.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)
EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced.
It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes. The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.
EMDR is not hypnosis and doesn’t use drugs as a form of treatment. EMDR is used to treat PTSD, depression, anxiety, single incident or complex trauma, and eating disorders to name just a few. For more information, click on the link What is EMDR?
